Until this date the reason to cause diabetes is still unknown. We can certainly define risk factors that increase the likelihood of being diagnosed with the condition. The most important risk factor that you can control is your weight. If you are overweight you need to lose weight, it’s the best you can do for your health and the prevention of diabetes. Even if it’s a little at a time, every pound you lose increases your health benefits.

With all the attention preventative healthcare is getting these days, the subject of diabetes prevention is seeing its fair share of the spot light, too. No wonder, either, since some 16 million people in the U.S have Type II diabetes (1) and it’s the country’s sixth leading cause of death (2). The good news, though, is that you don’t have to knock yourself out in the gym or go on any weird diets to avoid developing diabetes.
