Diabetic Menu

Glycemic index relates to the effect of different foods on blood sugar levels in the body. For individuals diagnosed with insulin resistance or Type II diabetes, the body does more work to produce extra insulin to cover blood sugar produced.

This accounts for the reason why it is advised to reduce carbohydrates in the diets of diabetics to reduce the stress on the isles of Langerhans in the pancreas for the production of insulin. With proper planning, and with some help, anyone can come up with a plan that underscores high nutrition sugars with high and low Glycemic indexes and does not necessarily eliminate any group.

Below are some tips

· Eating little meals with a mix of fat, carbohydrate and protein can help to control fluctuating blood sugars, while giving you the energy you need
· Maintaining a flexible diet plan that chooses a substitute diet with lower Glycemic index above diets in your guidelines
· Choosing diets with less calories to cope with a weight loss plan as well as a Glycemic menu plan.

The diet recommended for a diabetic includes 50% carbohydrate .This is to provide the energy required by the body to function properly. Also the recommended eating plan to maintain weight and for weight loss is at least 50%

The 50% carbohydrate recommended should be selectively taken from foods that digest slowly to ensure slow release of glucose into the blood. An example of such foods is brown rice. A visit to a health professional will educate more on this.

Diabetes is a disease condition in which the body cannot produce insulin or cannot use the insulin it produces to lower blood glucose .Because of this; diets should be less of glucose producing foods to lower the strain. A well planned diet will effectively curtail diabetes.
